So the National Poetry Slam was held this week in Madison WI. I got to volunteer for 10 hours doing score keeping and timing the prelim rounds so I could get into the rest of the activities for free. It was amazing. If you haven't been to a poetry slam I highly recommend it. The word play was dizzying; the performances were rip your heart out intense, and the hot poets were drool worthy. I am so inspired. I can't get pen to paper fast enough.
I also went to workshop taught by the poet laureate of Madison.
Incredible lady. I am now her stalker. She will be critiquing my
poetry. She just doesn't know it yet. grins

The closest thing we have to that is at BayCon - Iron Man Poetry. Before the Con the participants are given a set of words, and the format the poem must be in. They bring the poem to the Con, but the second round is they are given the words after the first round and basically have 24 hours to do the same thing - new words, possibly new format.
All beyond me, but it is fun to see the results!
